I think if I deleted all the pictures on my laptop that I have taken from Kildonan Sands, I would probably free up half my memory.
Sometimes I just go down to Arran because I love it. Not necessarily to take pictures.
Being born and brought up in Glasgow, Arran is the place in Scotland which has been a huge part of my life, having spent many many summers there as a boy. I can drive from Glasgow to Ardrossan in under an hour. The ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick takes 55 minutes. During the crossing, standing on the deck, watching Arran come closer, the wind blows the city cobwebs clean away, and you can go back to being an Arran person. It amazes me every time I speak to someone from Glasgow who has never been to Arran, but it`s impossible to describe to them why they should go, because you could never do it justice in the short time you have during the few moments conversations allow in the city.
The weather was awful for the few days I was there in winter, but I didn`t care. My soul needed recharged, and those who have been, will know why Arran is perfect for it. This was the only glimmer of sunshine on the entire trip, and I convinced myself it came out because I had bothered to go.
